Radiology - The Most Accurate Diagnosis!

Radiology is another form of medical specialty which is used ti get images of different parts of the body to detect and treat diseases. Various imaging techniques are used by the radiologists and the most important among them are X-RAY, USG, CT Scan, nuclear medicine, PET and MRI.

There are different types of Radiology techniques which are mentioned as under:-

X-Rays- it is also known as radiographs. There are produced by passing x-rays through the patient's body which then gets directed to a capturing device and further developed as an image. The most commonly used form of imaging is the Silver Containing films which is now replaced by Digital radiography. Due to its availability and cheap rates is the most prescribed test given by the doctors.

Fluoroscopy- Angiography or Fluoroscopy are the special form of an x-ray applications. In this a screen and an intensifier is used which help in the formation of the image both this things are connected to a close circuit television. The patient as administered with contrasting agents to differentiate between the tissues. It is commonly used to diagnose tumors or cysts.

Interventional radiology- it is mainly used to diagnose and treat peripheral vascular diseases, Inferior vena cave filter placement, gastrostomy tube placements, biliary stents and hepatic interventions in a minimally invasive method.

Computed Tomography- X-rays is used in addition with algorithms to take image of the body. It is used for diagnosing urgent situations such as hemorrhage, clots in the arteries of the lungs, appendicitis, and curing kidney stones.

Ultrasound-it is used to visualize the fetus, kidney stone, spleentomegaly etc. it used the high frequency sound waves to detect the abnormalities.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging- it uses magnetic fields to locate the nucleus of the atom within the tissues, then uses a radio signals to create disturbance in the axis of rotation of nucleus and observes the radio frequency signal generated And none the less are the nuclear medicines imaging which are administered into the patients containing materials which have the affinity for tissues labeled with radioactive tracer.
