Scottsdale Pet Care - Pet ID's

Pets are our best friends. They are always by our sides. But in those rare occurrences that they get lost, we want to make sure they get home fast and safe. In Scottsdale the most common reasons pets get loose are careless landscapers, pool cleaners, meter readers, etc., that don't close the back gate properly! I spend my time as a Scottsdale dog walker, but also as a loose dog chaser!

It is so easy to ensure their safe return.

1) ID tag. name, phone number and address. Simple.

You can get these made at Walmart for $4 or at and Pet Supply store.

2) Microchip. Any vet will do this. If you want to save money, check for microchip clinics. Pet rescue organizations offer clinics also. If your pets collar or tag falls of, the microchip is a fail safe backup!

As a Scottsdale pet sitter, I see loose dogs and cats everyday. I breathe a sign of relief when i see a pet id

tag as I can call those owners right away. For pets that have no tag, I take them to the vet to be scanned for a microchip.

The microchip will allow for your phone number and an emergency number for contact numbers. If you do not have a backup contact, ask your pet sitter if they want to be added!

Please remember to update the tag and chip information if you move or change a phone number!!

Not all dogs are lucky enough to be picked up by a caring Scottsdale pet sitter. If a dog is picked up by Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and is wearing an ID tag or microchip, they will hold for 5 days and contact the owner. I recommend people check the pound every day for their lost pet, do not rely on them calling you.

If a dog is picked up with no ID it is held as a stray and has 72 hrs to be claimed. If you are out of town and not even aware your pet is lost, it can be put to sleep before you even have a chance to look for it, if it has no form of identification on it!

Its up to owners to keep their pets safe, its as easy as a tag and microchip!
