HOA stands for House Owners association and the rules in these gated communities are framed by the association office bearers. 5. Gardening: If you love gardens and would love to have one in your home, ensure that no rules are there which make that a trifle difficult.

While some association manuals are short and upto required points, others make it really long and hide a few fine prints that can derail your budget in the long run. Some of these associations act very secretive and can even hide important information regarding the property of your interest unless you are really inquisitive about them. An important method to lay your hands on useful information is to go through the proper channel of communication in such development associations. Find out who the important people in the association are and ensure you are in constant touch with them.

While most of the HOA rules are framed to ensure peaceful and safe living, it is very important to make sure that these are not misused by relevant authorities to settle personal scores. One such rule which is commonly misused is the one pertaining to kids playing outside. While it is only natural to have kids play outdoors, these instances are used by some to level charges against parents and drag them into unnecessary controversies. Already, courts in US are hearing petitions for and against such rules and only time will tell who is right.
